Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Hydra steel panels a solid choice for builders concerned about quality and durability?

Hydra panels are ISO 9001 certified, made with U.S. steel, and backed by strict quality controls across all manufacturing facilities. Builders often notice the weight difference immediately—our panels are heavier and sturdier than many competitors’. Our 14- and 18-gauge panels are true to spec, and that thickness is verifiable with a micrometer. What we say is what you get.

Hydra offers 42″, 48″, and 52″ wall heights. The 52″ wall was originally designed for semi in-ground use but is now commonly used in full in-ground pools to meet demand for deeper shallow ends. Builders can choose from two lines:

  • Samson (14 gauge) for extra durability
  • Atlas (18 gauge) for a more economical option

We’re also one of the only companies offering PE-stamped engineering on our 18-gauge 48″ and 52″ panels, giving you confidence and flexibility on jobs requiring structural documentation.

Yes—our steps work with most major panel systems including Latham and Cardinal. We now offer multiple bead options beyond our original Hydra bead, including a PVC bead (standard) and a new aluminum bead, making it easy to match existing or preferred setups, including what Imperial and Latham builders are used to. If a customer didn’t like our bead in the past—that’s no longer an issue.

The modular system is designed to save time, simplify stocking, and reduce custom order delays. It starts with an 8-foot step (single part number) and includes 4’, 3’, and 2’ extensions. You can quickly configure steps up to 16’ or more using only a few SKUs.

Need a tanning ledge? Move the tread forward and bolt on a stock panel. It’s all designed for field flexibility—without waiting on custom fabrication.

Hydra’s modular step is often 2–3 times less expensive than comparable options. The 2” mud lip is molded directly into the riser, which makes backfilling faster and cleaner. It’s a true drop-in design, compatible with both polymer and steel walls, and works well for rehab projects too. Fewer delays. Fewer headaches.

All of Hydra’s liner material is sourced from North America—nothing imported from overseas. That means fewer surprises with quality or fit. When we say 20 mil, we mean 20 mil. Same goes for 27, 28, and 30 mil options. Builders trust the accuracy because it helps avoid issues with stretching or misfits on-site.

In addition to standard mil thicknesses, Hydra offers a pet-friendly 36 mil liner—guaranteed against punctures or tears. Yes, it’s thicker and heavier (and around 85% more per square foot), but it’s a great upsell for clients with dogs or active families. The Fusion Series is also available in 27/20 mil for added flexibility.

The tiered warranty program gives you and your customer options.

  • Standard warranty: 2-year full / 18-year prorated with up to $750 in water and labor

  • ProCare (upgrade): 3-year full / 17-year prorated with up to $1,000

  • ProCare Plus: Up to $1,750 in coverage

You can offer peace of mind without taking on the risk yourself. It’s especially helpful for smaller shops who can’t afford the downtime or cost of a seam failure. Remake discounts are also built in.

Hydra’s value is in straightforward quality, fast install options, and flexibility without surprises. You can offer high-end performance without high-end pricing. Whether you’re a builder looking to reduce install times, avoid liner fit issues, or offer smarter upgrade paths to customers, Hydra is built with your needs in mind.
